Mark Sanchez was stabbed during an altercation in Indianapolis over the weekend, and a chilling new video shows the former quarterback staggering down a sidewalk after he was seriously wounded.
Sanchez was stabbed multiple times in the torso early Saturday morning by a 69-year-old man who authorities say was acting in self-defense. The victim says he was making a delivery at a loading dock when Sanchez confronted him about where he had parked. The driver says Sanchez attacked him and was aggressive to the point where the man feared for his life, so he stabbed Sanchez.
After reviewing video evidence and gathering information from witnesses, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department made the decision to arrest Sanchez at the hospital where he was being treated. Sanchez is facing multiple charges, including a felony that carries a prison sentence.
On Monday, the New York Post obtained video footage that showed Sanchez stumbling down a street in Indianapolis shortly after midnight on Saturday. The 38-year-old had his left hand over his abdomen, which appeared to be bleeding heavily.

Sanchez reportedly walked into a nearby bar, where a bartender helped him tend to his wounds and the owner called paramedics. Police said Sanchez was “uncooperative” when they arrived. He later told officers he was attacked and could not remember details.
A probable cause affidavit that was released by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office on Sunday says the 69-year-old man first used pepper spray in an attempt to get Sanchez to stop attacking him. When Sanchez allegedly continued to advance toward the man, the man said he believed he was in a “life-or-death situation” and stabbed Sanchez.
The truck driver suffered a serious laceration to his face and other injuries in the altercation. He was also taken to a local hospital to be treated.
Sanchez was reportedly released from the hospital on Sunday and processed through jail. Prosecutors have said the investigation remains ongoing, and the former No. 5 overall pick could face further charges.
Sanchez works as an analyst for FOX Sports and was in Indianapolis to call Sunday’s Week 5 game between the Colts and Las Vegas Raiders. He was replaced on the broadcast by fellow former quarterback Brady Quinn.
