Frank Gore wants to know if the San Francisco 49ers want him back next season, and he is even going on social media to pose the question.
Gore posted a photo and note on Instagram Sunday night (later deleted) where he openly wondered whether the Niners want him back.
“I know the fans love me but I need to know if the management does but I’m going to love my fans no matter what,” Gore wrote on Instagram.

Gore will be 32 in May and is entering his 11th year in the league, which makes him ancient by running back standards. Still, he rushed for 1,106 yards last season, which is an impressive total no matter his age.
49ers GM Trent Baalke said in Dec. that the team wanted Gore back.
“He would certainly like to be back, and we would certainly like to have him back,” Baalke told CSNBayArea.com on Dec. 23. “Now, whether we can make that a reality or not, time will tell.”
Gore was paid $6.45 million each of the last two seasons but is now a free agent.
“You have to look at the situation,” Baalke said. “Frank is going to want to discuss his role, and what that role is going to be moving forward. What is the contract itself going to look like? We can both want each other’s company, but to make that happen, there are hurdles that are going to have to be crossed.”
The issue is that the Niners also have Carlos Hyde and Kendall Hunter in the mix and will plan to split carries between all three men if Gore returns. The 49ers want Gore back, but at a reduced rate. He has to recognize that he needs to take a pay cut to return to his team.
