Fred Warner suffers gruesome leg injury during 49ers-Bucs game

The San Francisco 49ers have taken yet another sickening blow.

49ers linebacker Fred Warner suffered a gruesome injury during Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In the first quarter at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla., Warner was lightly chasing after Bucs running back Rachaad White while teammate Ji’Ayir Brown made the tackle.

Brown fell down while tackling White, and he rolled up on Warner’s ankle. As a result, Warner’s right ankle bent underneath him awkwardly. Here is the video.

Warner’s right leg was placed in an aircast, and he was ultimately carted off the field.

The four-time All-Pro Warner has been with the 49ers for his entire NFL career and now serves as a captain for the team as well as one of their top defensive leaders. He is widely considered to be one of the elite linebackers in the game today and has appeared in 121 of a possible 122 games during his pro career.

Meanwhile, the 49ers, though they entered play on Sunday with a 4-1 record, have had the season from hell when it comes to injuries. Nick Bosa (ACL), Brandon Aiyuk (knee), Brock Purdy (toe), Ricky Pearsall (knee), and George Kittle (hamstring) are among their top names who are currently injured. Now it looks like Warner, who just secured a big contract extension from San Francisco over the offseason, may be facing an extended absence of his own.
