Garrett Wilson had a heated outburst after pathetic drive from the Jets

Garrett Wilson has a heated exchange with Aaron Glenn

The New York Jets were shockingly conservative at the end of the first half of their Week 6 game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, and star wide receiver Garrett Wilson seemed irate over the approach.

The Jets were trailing 10-6 when they forced a punt with just over 3 minutes remaining in the first half at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England. They had more than enough time to try to secure points, but offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand called plays like the Jets had a lead late in the game and were trying to milk the clock.

New York called mostly running plays and short passes over the middle. Quarterback Justin Fields was operating with zero sense of urgency, and the Jets seemed content to burn the remainder of the clock and go into the locker room.

The Jets eventually had 4th-and-1 at midfield with more than 30 seconds left and decided not to run a play. Wilson began walking off the field before the clock hit 0. He was then seen having a heated exchange with head coach Aaron Glenn.

What made the conservative approach even more puzzling was that the Jets ran a fake punt on 4th-and-1 earlier in the drive from their own 38-yard line. Most assumed they would operate with more urgency after that aggressive gamble paid off, but that did not happen.

The Jets had just 47 total yards of offense in the first half. Wilson had 1 catch for 2 yards. Even though they knew they were getting the ball to start the second half, their two-minute drive was completely inexcusable.
