George Pickens goes viral for vulgar 3-word message on his eye black
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens on Sunday let his eye black do the talking for him.
The Steelers hosted the Dallas Cowboys for their Week 5 face-off at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Spectators couldn’t help but notice a message written across Pickens’ eye black.
“Open f—ing always,” the words on Pickens’ eye black read (profanity edited by LBS).
Despite what was written on Pickens’ eye black, the Steelers weren’t able to utilize their star receiver much in the first half of the game.
The 23-year-old was targeted only twice with 1 catch for 8 yards over the first two quarters.
It’s unclear if Pickens’ eye black was a not-so-subtle message directed at quarterback Justin Fields or the Steelers coaching staff. Pickens could have also worn it simply as a show of confidence in himself rather than as an incendiary remark.
However, Pickens has had a history of sending in-game messages. During the offseason, the third-year pro also got into a heated exchange with a member of the Steelers’ coaching staff.
Pickens entered Sunday’s contest coming off his best game of the season. The Steelers wideout caught 7 passes for 113 yards in Pittsburgh’s Week 4 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
Despite being Pittsburgh’s top target, Pickens came into Week 5 without a touchdown.
