Report: Giants accused Steelers of deflating footballs

deflated football

The issue of deflated footballs has once again come up in the NFL, only this time the New England Patriots are not involved.

Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reported on Sunday that the New York Giants became suspicious that the Pittsburgh Steelers were using under-inflated balls when the two teams played each other last weekend. After they forced two turnovers, the Giants apparently believed that the balls the Steelers were using felt a bit soft. When they tested the PSI (there’s that term again) on their sideline, Giants staff members found that two of Pittsburgh’s balls were below the legal limit.

Here’s more from Glazer:

The Giants alerted the NFL of the alleged violation and are awaiting a response.

If you’re thinking “here we go again,” you’re certainly not alone. The original Deflategate scandal was the ridiculous news story that never seemed to die, and it resulted in the Patriots being fined and losing draft picks. It also led to Tom Brady being suspended for the first four games of the 2016 season.

Brady recently mocked his Deflategate suspension in a commercial (video here), and that served as a reminder of just how ridiculous the Ted Wells investigation and ensuing punishment was. Are we about to go through it all again? Time will tell.
