The New York Giants sped up the process of hiring Ben McAdoo as head coach when they feared he might end up coaching the Philadelphia Eagles.
Newsday’s Tom Rock reported Friday, the day that McAdoo was introduced as head coach, that the Giants tried to bump up McAdoo’s second interview with the team. The problem was he was set to interview with the Eagles for a second time. The competition with their NFC East rival led them to accelerate the process.
When Hue Jackson backed out of Thursday interview, Giants tried to move Ben's 2nd interview to that spot. Called him Wed to schedule….

McAdoo, 38, was the Giants’ offensive coordinator the past two seasons. Less than 20 years ago he was a high school coach, and then he rose all the way up the rankings, mostly making a name for himself on the Green Bay Packers’ staff from 2006-2013. Now he’s head coach of the Giants and trying to replace Tom Coughlin — no easy task after Coughlin won two Super Bowls.
