Giants WR points to 1 play that changed game in huge comeback win

The New York Giants pulled off a huge comeback win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, and rookie wide receiver Jalin Hyatt thinks he can pinpoint the exact moment things turned for his team.

The Giants were unable to get anything going on offense over the first 30 minutes of the game and trailed 20-0 at the half. After getting the ball first to start the third quarter, New York called for a deep pass to Hyatt on their first play that went for 58 yards.

Hyatt later recalled telling quarterback Daniel Jones in the huddle to “just throw it.”

“We came in here and drew some plays up and they were like, ‘We’re going to hit you on this post,'” Hyatt told the media, via Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post. “I told D.J. right before we broke out of the huddle, ‘Throw it. Just throw it.’ He trusted me and threw it. I wish I scored, but great outcome.”

Hyatt added that he believes that one play “changed the outcome of the whole game.”

Jones scored on a 14-yard run to cap off the drive. The Giants then gave up a touchdown and fell into a 28-7 hole, but their offense found its rhythm from that point on. Hyatt could be right that the 58-yard completion finally gave Jones and company some confidence after they were shut out for six straight quarters going back to Week 1.

New York eventually got the stops they needed and came back to win 31-28. The win may have come at a cost, but it was one the Giants desperately needed.
