New York Giants fans hoping for widespread changes in the midst of another disappointing season appear to be out of luck.

Speaking this week at a screening of the NFL Films project “The Duke: The Giants Life of Wellington Mara,” New York Giants owner John Mara issued a very strong statement about the team’s future. He said that he remains committed to head coach Brian Daboll and GM Joe Schoen and does not anticipate making any changes after the 2024 season.

Mara also said that he still has confidence in both Daboll and Schoen and that he feels that he has not been patient enough in recent years, per Judy Battista of NFL.com.

The Giants are currently an NFC-worst 2-5 and are in danger of missing the playoffs for a seventh time in the last eight NFL seasons. But management probably isn’t the issue for them. Daboll, the Giants’ fifth head coach since Tom Coughlin’s retirement, led the team to a playoff berth in 2022 and won NFL Coach of the Year for his efforts. Meanwhile, Schoen has definitely had some duds in terms of both veteran acquisitions and draft picks ever since taking over the GM job in 2022. But he really improved his reputation with a superb 2024 NFL Draft and has also done well to give long-term extensions to homegrown All-Pros like Andrew Thomas and Dexter Lawrence.

Of course, the big elephant in the room is Giants quarterback Daniel Jones, whom Schoen was responsible for giving a four-year, $160 million extension to before the 2023 season. Jones continues to underwhelm under center for the Giants and may even be getting benched at some point this season for a very interesting reason. If Mara is committed to keeping Daboll and Schoen around, finding a way to part with Jones may be the change to make instead.
