Greg McElroy rips Cam Newton: He ‘quit’ on Panthers

Former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy had one of the harshest criticisms of Cam Newton of all.

McElroy, now an analyst for SEC Network, was appearing on the Paul Finebaum Show this week and ripped Newton for quitting on the Panthers in the Super Bowl.

Some will view this as motivated from a place of hate because Newton went to McElroy’s rival, Auburn, and that may be true, but McElroy says she is a Panthers fan, so there is a balance.

Saying Newton “quit” on his team is taking it too far in my opinion, but it’s hard to comprehend why Cam didn’t dive for his fumble. There is no explanation for that, not even the one Cam gave holds water.
