It’s an interesting move for Dallas, who just re-signed kicker Kai Forbath earlier in the month. The fact that Zuerlein is getting a three-year contract would seem to indicate that he, not Forbath, is probably in line to handle the kicking duties in Dallas.
Dallas had serious kicking issues last season, which led to a change mid-season. Zuerlein seems like an effort to correct that once and for all. The veteran kicker had some issues from beyond 40 yards last season, but that’s an outlier from his very solid career numbers.
