Boone teamed up with Bill Yoast at T.C. Williams High School to coach an integrated high school football team in Alexandria, Virginia. The team went 13-0, won the state championship, and became a symbol for the way sports could help schools overcome segregation.
Boone was fired from his job as the school’s head football coach in 1979 over player abuse allegations. His teams won four more district and two more regional titles after the 1971 season.
