Houston writer John McClain eats newspaper after draft prediction goes wrong (Video)
Veteran NFL writer John McClain is a man of his word, and we love him for it.
McClain, who is an NFL columnist for the Houston Chronicle, was so confident a few months ago that the Texans would take a quarterback first overall, he told Sports Radio 610 in Houston that he would eat the front page of the newspaper if the Texans did not take a QB with the first pick:
I've said on Sports Radio 610 in Houston that I'll eat the front page of the Chron's draft day section if Texans don't pick a QB. Yummy!

As time went on and the draft neared, McClain’s opinion changed. He started predicting the Texans would take Jadeveon Clowney first overall:
Lots of NFL experts predicting Texans will take Khalil Mack with first pick. I'm sticking with Clowney. He's been my pick in last 4 mocks.

It didn’t matter that McClain had changed his opinion, because he’d already opened up his big trap. He said Thursday that he would stick to his promise to eat the paper if the Texans didn’t take a quarterback.
I've been reminded that I said months ago I'd eat the front of the Chron sports page if Texans don't take QB in first round. I guess I will.

McClain may have had to eat the newspaper, but that’s a lot better than the next promise he made:
If the Texans don't trade and don't take Clowney, I won't have to eat front page cause I'm jumping off Empire State Building.

Good thing we didn’t have to see him commit suicide.
