Report: Hue Jackson close to landing 49ers job
Another season has ended in disappointment for the Cincinnati Bengals, but the sour mood may not last for one member of their coaching staff.
According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, offensive coordinator Hue Jackson appears close to landing the San Francisco 49ers’ head coaching gig.

Reports have already indicated that Jackson is the “clear front-runner” for the Niners job, and the team could apparently move quickly to hire him.
With the way the Bengals lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers Saturday night, there has been speculation that Marvin Lewis might finally lose his job. Jackson would be a logical candidate to replace him, but some believe he would feel uncomfortable doing that because of his close relationship with Lewis. If the comments we heard from Bengals players after the loss are any indication, Lewis may have one foot out the door.
Jackson has been with the Bengals since 2012. He was fired after one 8-8 season in 2011 as head coach of the Oakland Raiders.
