Report: Hue Jackson cursed out Browns owner after being fired
Hue Jackson had an incredulous reaction to being fired by the Cleveland Browns.
Jackson was fired by Cleveland on Oct. 29 following a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers that made the Browns 2-5-1 and 3-36-1 under him as head coach. According to a great story from ESPN’s Seth Wickersham that was published on Thursday, owner Jimmy Haslam and GM John Dorsey entered Hue’s office to break the news.
Here’s how it went, according to Wickersham:
Jackson asked why he was being fired.
The team quit on you, Dorsey replied.
At the time, four of the eight Browns games had gone to overtime.
“Get the f— out of my office,” Jackson said.
And that’s how Jackson went out.
Cleveland made the right move by firing Jackson. There is no doubt about that. The only issue is why they waited so long and even gave him a third year.
Jackson’s .205 winning percentage is the worst since the AFL/NFL merger. He even made the Bengals worse after joining their staff.
