Jadeveon Clowney is facing multiple charges after the former No. 1 overall pick was recently arrested.
Clowney was arrested in his hometown of Rock Hill, S.C., on Sept. 12 over an alleged incident in a parking lot, according to WSOC-TV 9. Police said Clowney was trying to park in a lot on Constitution Boulevard that was not open to parking. The 32-year-old was informed the lot was closed but parked there anyway, the police report states.
Clowney was arrested and charged with trespassing and failure to identify, which are both misdemeanors. No additional details from the incident have been released.
The Dallas Cowboys were either unaware of the arrest or unconcerned about it, as they signed Clowney two days later. Clowney is expected to make his debut with the Cowboys in Sunday’s road game against the Chicago Bears.
Clowney, who was drafted first overall by the Houston Texans in 2014, was a free agent after he was released by the Carolina Panthers in May. He appeared in 14 games last season after signing a 2-year, $20 million deal.
Clowney had 46 total tackles and 5.5 sacks in his lone season with the Panthers. He has bounced around to several different teams over the last few years. Clowney played the first five years of his career with the Texans and then had brief stints with the Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens and Panthers.
