Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is dealing with what sounds like a minor injury, but a mistake by the media on Tuesday sent many fans into a panic over the situation.

Lawrence was spotted wearing a compression sleeve on his throwing arm at the start of minicamp on Tuesday. Initially, there were a couple of posts on social media that mistakenly claimed Lawrence was wearing a sling, which would suggest the issue was a lot more significant.

The error, which appeared to be an honest one, had Jaguars fans in an uproar.

Sleeve or Sling for Trevor Lawrence?

Most likely sleeve because if they put Lawrence in a sling for maintenance, the training staff would probably be replaced as we speak. pic.twitter.com/kqD1ELbmzk

It quickly became clear that Lawrence was actually wearing a sleeve. Jaguars head coach Liam Coen said the injury is not serious and that the quarterback had some “general soreness” after throwing a lot of balls last week.

Liam Coen said Trevor Lawrence was wearing a sleeve on his throwing arm because of "general soreness" from how many balls he threw last week. It was really just maintenance & something to keep it warm. Trevor "feels good", it's not an issue and it's not really bothering him.

For what it’s worth, Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud took a break from throwing at OTAs with what his coach described as “general soreness” as well. Stroud was seen throwing at the start of minicamp on Tuesday, so he appears to be fine.

Lawrence missed time last season because of an injury to his left shoulder and then a concussion. He is hoping to take a big leap forward under Coen after back-to-back disappointing years.

Had Lawrence shown up to minicamp with a sling, that would have been a major concern for Jaguars fans. Fortunately, it was merely a lesson in how one inaccurate detail in a social media post can incite panic.
