The Gardner Minshew Show may just be getting renewed for a second season.
Veteran football writer Peter King reported on Tuesday that the Jacksonville Jaguars are unlikely to draft a quarterback with the No. 9 overall pick in this year’s draft, as they want to give Minshew “a real shot.”
The fan favorite Minshew performed admirably last season as a fill-in for the injured Nick Foles, throwing for 3,271 yards and logging 21 touchdowns to six interceptions. Foles has since been traded to the Chicago Bears, opening the door for Minshew to get some legitimate run as the undisputed No. 1.
Jacksonville also brought in tight end Tyler Eifert this offseason as another potential weapon for Minshew, and it looks like the 23-year-old signal caller will get a full opportunity to prove that he is more than just a meme.
