Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander has returned to the team after a one-game suspension for taking part in the Week 16 coin toss without being appointed a captain, but he is not holding any hard feelings over what happened.
Alexander admitted he was “surprised” that the team suspended him for his coin toss antics, which saw him nearly botch the toss after essentially appointing himself as a captain. He did say, however, that the suspension actually improved his relationship with the team, and taught him an important lesson about improving his communication with the organization.
“Yeah, I think it was definitely something to learn from,” Alexander said, via Rob Demovsky of ESPN. “There’s definitely things that I could have improved upon during that week to help with communication. Moving forward, that won’t happen again.”
Alexander was not necessarily apologetic about what happened, and the Packers were not clear on whether he would play this week. The team had previously suggested that the coin toss incident was not the only reason for Alexander’s suspension.
A two-time Pro Bowl selection, injuries have limited Alexander to six games this season, with four passes defended and a forced fumble.
