The Jacksonville Jaguars have put themselves in a somewhat confusing situation regarding cornerback Jalen Ramsey and his back injury.
On Wednesday, coach Doug Marrone claimed he had no knowledge of when Ramsey suffered the back injury that kept him out of the day’s practice. That raised some eyebrows until both the team and the player quickly tried to counteract the confusion.
The Jaguars stated through a spokesperson that Ramsey had informed the team that his back was tightening up during the fourth quarter of last Thursday’s game.
Jaguars clarification:
Jalen Ramsey reported back soreness to the Jaguars medical staff during the fourth quarter of Thursday night’s game.

Ramsey’s agent, David Mulugheta, corroborated that part of the story, adding that the cornerback was treated by team trainers after the game.
Spoke with agent @DavidMulugheta, who reps CB Jalen Ramsey. He said Ramsey told the team in the 4Q on TNF that his back & ankle were bothering him. He also met with the Jags doc & trainer Thurs post-game. On Friday, he met with them again to discuss his back, ankle & hamstring.

More from agent David Mulugheta: On Friday, Ramsey came in and got treatment on his back and hamstring – the ankle felt better. On Monday, he got more treatment on his back and hamstring. We’re not sure how the Jaguars weren’t aware of this.

In other words, Marrone was either confused or left very far out of the loop when he shouldn’t have been. There’s no question that he and Ramsey aren’t getting along great right now, and it’s tough to see this helping. The fiasco comes at a delicate time, with the team trying to keep Ramsey in the fold in spite of the fact that he has a trade demand on the table.
