Jameis Winston shares how his vision has improved since LASIK eye surgery

Jameis Winston

Jameis Winston recently underwent LASIK eye surgery in what was a long overdue move, and the procedure is already paying off.

Winston, who signed with the New Orleans Saints this week, spoke with reporters on Wednesday. He told them what a difference the surgery has made.

“I can read license plates. I can read street signs. I think the precision in the vision is the biggest difference,” Winston said.

Winston, who is nearsighted and has an astigmatism, raved about his vision.

“No blurriness, and I think that’s huge. Depth perception has increased tremendously and those are the big things. I didn’t have bad eyes, I just had astigmatism. I had certain things that they had to fix to increase the precision and the sharpness of my vision.”

Winston was the No. 1 overall draft pick by Tampa Bay in 2015, but his time with the team came to an end after a 30-interception season. Winston has had vision issues going back to college, though that didn’t prevent him from winning a national championship at Florida State. Still, getting the LASIK done was a no-brainer, and it makes you wonder what took him so long to do it.
