Janay Palmer went to kiss Ray Rice in elevator after punch (Video)

A new video details what happened in the aftermath of the elevator incident between Ray Rice and then-girlfriend, now wife Janay Palmer.

ABC’s “Good Morning America” obtained the full video of the incident and says the extended version shows Palmer completely changing in her mentality.

According to ABC, Palmer initially was distraught, unwilling to speak with Rice, and pushed him away.

The new video shows hotel staffers concerned with Palmer’s condition, bringing a wheelchair to her in case she had trouble walking and then giving her first aid. It shows Rice agitated at times, being kept at a distance from Palmer and talking on the phone at one point.

The video then shows Palmer going through something of an emotional evolution in the middle of the night. Almost immediately after the assault, she appears angry. Soon after, Palmer begins to cry. And by the time she and Rice are both escorted into an elevator — handcuffed — she appears to kiss and nuzzle the one-time NFL star.

Palmer appears to have forgiven Rice or at least feels badly over what happened, which is why she snuggles up to him. She probably was also looking for some comfort.

Both parties were charged with one count of assault. Janay’s charge was dropped, while Ray’s was upgraded to aggravated assault. The NFL’s bungling of his punishment ultimately led to his release by the Baltimore Ravens.

In the part of the video that was not shown, Rice reportedly spit on Janay twice and told security she was drunk.
