Jared Allen will be signing with the Seattle Seahawks after visiting with them for a second time, ESPN’s Ed Werder reports.
Allen is turning 32 and was one of the top pass rushers on the free agent market. There was talk about the Minnesota Vikings trading him last season, but he played out the year with the team and is now going to a contender.
Despite his age, Allen has registered at least 11 sacks in every season since 2007. He’s an excellent asset and should give coach Pete Carroll another strong option on the defensive line.
Between re-signing Michael Bennett and bringing in Allen, the Seahawks should have one of the best defenses in the league once again next season.
