Jason Garrett: Cowboys ‘not even close’ to being ready
NFL teams are only in the early stages of being prepared for the start of the regular season. That’s not stopping Jason Garrett from pointing that out rather clearly.
The Dallas Cowboys head coach told reporters on Tuesday that the team is “not even close” to being ready. He noted that being far away is not unusual for this point in training camp.
Jason Garrett's assessment of Cowboys training camp: "We're way far off as a team. We're not even close."
But later added: "I don't think it's unique only six real practices into training camp. I think that's where teams are."

The Cowboys take the field for their first preseason game of the year on Saturday at Levi’s Stadium against the 49ers in Santa Clara. We’ll see how close they are at that point.
For now, the biggest question facing the Cowboys is what will happen with Ezekiel Elliott, who is holding out. The team is facing several contract extensions for their top young players. The Cowboys say they have made “generous” offers to try and sign these players.
