Jason Pierre-Paul suffered a serious injury in a car accident he was involved in last week, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end is at risk of missing the entire 2019 season as a result.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Pierre-Paul sustained a fractured neck in a single-car crash in South Florida, and he is set to visit with specialists this week to determine if he will be able to play at all in 2019.

The details of the accident are unclear, but it is obviously shocking that yet another off-field incident may alter Pierre-Paul’s career. The former New York Giants infamously lost a portion of his hand in a gruesome fireworks accident several years ago, and he had to wear a club on his hand and change the way he played because of it.
Pierre-Paul made a huge impact on the Buccaneers’ defense last season, recording 12.5 sacks in 16 games. Losing him for the year — or even a large portion of it — would be a major blow.
