Patriots DB reportedly seeking huge money in free agency

Bill Belichick looks on from the sideline

New England Patriots defensive back JC Jackson is poised to hit free agency as perhaps the top player available at his position. If it was not already clear, he expects to be compensated accordingly.

Jackson is not even interested in discussing terms unless he is offered Jalen Ramsey money, according to Mike Giardi of NFL Network. Jackson would not be opposed to remaining in New England, but money is clearly a major priority for him.

For reference, Ramsey signed a five-year, $100 million deal with the Los Angeles Rams in 2020. $43.7 million of that was guaranteed at the time of signing.

Jackson is not expected to receive the franchise tag, so he will be unhindered on the open market once he gets there. The 26-year-old led the NFL with 23 passes defended in 2021, and his eight interceptions were second in the league behind only Trevon Diggs. Whether or not he can thrive away from the Patriots remains to be seen, but he certainly expects to be compensated like a star.
