Report: Jerry Jones, Bob McNair among owners deposed in Kaepernick case
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and Houston Texans owner Bob McNair will be among those whose phone records and emails will be deposed as they relate to Colin Kaepernick, according to a report.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Friday that Jones and McNair will both be asked to turn over all cell phone and email records that could relate to Kaepernick’s collusion case against the NFL. Other figures will be asked to follow suit, but these high-profile owners are the only ones confirmed publicly.
It’s no coincidence that these two owners figure to loom large in the investigation. Both have been among the leading proponents of getting players to stand for the national anthem, and McNair’s recent comments at a league meeting have gotten him in huge trouble with players. It makes sense that, if Kaepernick’s legal team is trying to prove collusion, they’d start with owners who have been particularly vocal against his form of protesting.
