The Dallas Cowboys acquired a pair of first-round draft picks when they sent Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers last month, and Jerry Jones insists he not afraid to use those picks ahead of the trade deadline.
The Cowboys now have two first-round picks — their own and the Packers’ — in each of the 2026 and 2027 NFL Drafts. During an interview with 105.3 The Fan in Dallas on Friday, Jones was asked if the Cowboys will consider making any mid-season trades. He said the additional draft capital has positioned the team to do just that.
“Absolutely, I’m open for business period relative now that we have those extra picks. We should be,” Jones said.

Jones has tried to spin the Parsons trade every way possible. He has even said he believes the Cowboys’ defense will be better this season without Parsons, though their performance through the first two weeks has been predictably poor on that side of the ball.
While the Cowboys were decent against the run in their 40-37 overtime win over the New York Giants in Week 2, they allowed Russell Wilson to throw for 450 yards and 3 touchdowns. Dallas is not going to win many games playing that way.
The NFL trade deadline is on Nov. 5. If the Cowboys continue to struggle defensively without Parsons, Jones will undoubtedly feel pressure to make a move. It remains to be seen whether he will actually be willing to part with one of the additional first-round picks this soon after acquiring them.
