The Dallas Cowboys will forever be linked to Johnny Manziel because of the way Jerry Jones openly praised him before the 2014 NFL Draft, but the longtime team owner sounds like he has officially moved on.
TMZ caught up with Jones in Hollywood Saturday night, and the first question thrown at him was about Manziel. More specifically, Jones was asked what it is about Manziel that has deterred the Cowboys from signing the QB.
The timing couldn’t have been better, as Prescott was incredibly impressive in his preseason debut against the Los Angeles Rams earlier in the evening. The rookie completed 10-of-12 passes for 139 yards and two touchdowns, displaying great chemistry with Dez Bryant and giving fans hope that he could fill in for Tony Romo if the veteran goes down again.
Manziel recently said he wants to play for the Cowboys. If you think that is actually going to happen, Jones’ son should be able to convince you otherwise. Manziel isn’t worth the risk.
