Jerry Jones reportedly reimbursed NFL $2 million for legal fees

Jerry Jones

Jerry Jones may not be headed for a massive legal war with the NFL, after all.

Jones recently met with the league to discuss the possibility of Roger Goodell ordering him to reimburse the league for legal fees incurred as a result of Jones and the Dallas Cowboys publicly defending Ezekiel Elliott after the running back was suspended. On Wednesday, the NFL released a statement saying the matter has been resolved. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, it was resolved by Jones writing a check for $2 million.

The details of the settlement are not clear, though it’s surprising that Jones agreed to pay back the money without dragging things out. He was expected to contest any fine or fee that was levied against him, and it seemed like he had a good argument to make.
