Will Tony Romo be a Dallas Cowboy in 2017? As far as owner Jerry Jones is concerned, the answer is yes.
Jones said Thursday that he feels it is “tenable” to roster both Romo and Dak Prescott in 2017, and that he hasn’t considered not having Romo on the team after the season, according to ESPN’s Todd Archer.
Jones also believes Romo can remain a top quarterback capable of winning a Super Bowl for at least another five years.

One has to wonder how these things go together. Romo clearly wants to play. Jones clearly believes he’s still capable of playing for virtually any team in the league. It’s also clear that Prescott has been fantastic and looks to be Dallas’s quarterback of both the present and future. With all that in mind, it’s hard to believe Romo will accept being a backup quarterback beyond the end of 2016, no matter what Jones says or thinks.
