General manager Mike Maccagnan will be retained and allowed to carry out the upcoming coaching search.
In a statement, the #Jets say Mike Maccagnan will work with CEO Christopher Johnson on the search for a new coach. Johnson: "After carefully evaluating the situation, I have concluded that this is the right direction for the organization to take."

Bowles has been a dead man walking for weeks to the point that potential replacements have been floating around the media for a while now. The new coach will be tasked with developing quarterback Sam Darnold into a franchise star.
Bowles will end up going 23-37 over four seasons with New York. The expectation is that he will land on his feet somewhere, either as a coordinator or potentially with another head coaching job.
