Report: Todd Bowles will be considered for open coaching positions
Todd Bowles is reportedly likely to be fired by the New York Jets at the end of the season, but it sounds like he may find a soft landing elsewhere.
According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, Bowles is expected to be widely considered as a coaching candidate if he is, in fact, fired by the Jets. Despite his lack of success in that role and his defensive background, Bowles’ reputation appears to be sound, and he’ll be considered for coaching openings this offseason.
From @gmfb today, Todd Bowles as a head coaching candidate? Really? There’s enough smoke on this one that there might be some fire here. pic.twitter.com/BN7OBYY99Q

One thing that may work in Bowles’ favor is his history with several teams that will be hiring new coaches. From 2001-2004 he was a secondary coach with the Cleveland Browns, and he also spent time in the Green Bay Packers’ personnel department in the 1990s. His best chance, however, may be with the Arizona Cardinals, where he was defensive coordinator before moving to the Jets and is still highly thought of.
There is little doubt that Bowles, who is 24-38 as the Jets’ head coach, is on the way out. It sounds like he may well land on his feet anyway.
