Once regarded as the game’s finest corner, Darrelle Revis has spent the first two games of his season getting torched by opposing receivers. That doesn’t mean his New York Jets teammates have lost faith in him.
Some of Revis’s teammates said that they were still firm believers in the man known as Revis Island.
“I haven’t lost any confidence or belief in him, and I don’t think he’s lost any confidence in himself, either,” linebacker Erin Henderson said Wednesday, via Rich Cimini of ESPN. “It’s just a matter of going out these next couple of weeks and shutting up everybody, like he’s done for his entire career.
“You’ll see Reve go out there and be Reve, the same way as always. He’ll be the playmaker he always has been.”
Longtime Jets linebacker David Harris is also backing Revis.
“This is the age of social media, and hate spreads faster than love,” Harris said. “Everybody thinks they’re a comedian, but at the end of the day, I’ll take him over everybody else. I still think he’s the best corner.”
With plays like this, you can understand the concern. This will be the second straight week Revis is looking to bounce back from a questionable performance against the Kansas City Chiefs, and it will be interesting to see who Revis lines up against.
