New York Jets offensive lineman Xavier Newman was taken to the hospital after suffering a neck injury during his team’s Sunday night contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pa.
The Jets had a 2nd-and-10 play from their 23 down 16-15 to the Steelers in the third quarter. Aaron Rodgers threw a pass that Garrett Wilson bobbled, resulting in an interception by Beanie Bishop. As Bishop raced with the ball the other way, Steelers defensive players tried to block some Jets offensive players.
Patrick Queen slammed into Newman with a big hit that sent the lineman to the ground.

Prayers up for Xavier Newman 🙏🙏
He wasn’t moving his extremities while being stretchered off, though he was conscious, according to NBC’s Melissa Stark

Newman was down for several minutes after that block.
NBC reporter Melissa Stark said that Newman was conscious and able to squeeze a trainer’s hand, indicating movement in his limbs. Medical personnel had stabilized Newman’s neck, placed him on a gurney, and put him in an emergency vehicle to be taken to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
The Jets announced via X that Newman was out with a neck injury.
