JJ Watt eats crow with social media post after Jets beat Texans
The New York Jets snapped a five-game losing streak with a win over the Houston Texans on Thursday night, and JJ Watt was the first to admit he did not see it coming.
Watt threw several shots at Aaron Rodgers and the Jets during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” this week. The three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year got things started when he reacted with disbelief after being informed that the Jets were favored over his former team heading into Thursday night’s game.
“You gotta be sh—ing me. Are you kidding me? You gotta be kidding me,” Watt said. “What the hell does Vegas know that I don’t?”
You can see the clip, but be aware that it contains cursing:

Watt also mocked Rodgers over the 40-year-old quarterback’s recent revelation that Rodgers has been drinking water mixed with cayenne pepper. Rodgers said Jets punter Thomas Morstead introduced him to the concoction and called it “a little fountain of youth.”
“Oh, that’ll do it,” Watt said sarcastically. “I’m so sick of talking about all this s–. It’s not working. You’re 2-6. You’re 2-6.”
Watt’s hot take did not age well, and the CBS analyst knows it. The Jets beat the Texans 21-13 on Thursday night. Rodgers lit it up in the second half and finished 22/32 for 211 yards, 3 touchdowns and no interceptions.
Watt acknowledged his big miss with a social media post after the game.
“No problem admitting when I’m wrong and clearly was wrong about this one tonight. Gonna grab myself a glass of cayenne water and head to bed. Touché Jets,” he wrote on X.

The Jets had looked like one of the worst teams in the NFL over the last month-plus, which is why Watt was hardly the only one who thought the Texans would beat them. New York was simply in a good spot with a home game on a short week, and Rodgers has historically played well in primetime games. That is why the Jets were favored, and the oddsmakers got it right.
Watt has shown that he is not afraid to deliver blunt takes, which is part of his job now as an analyst. The one about Rodgers and the Jets just happened to backfire.
