Patrick Mahomes’ 10-year contract extension with the Kansas City Chiefs has certainly attracted the attention of some other quarterbacks around the league. That’s especially true for those who have yet to sign a long-term deal with their current franchise.
Deshaun Watson is one of those quarterbacks, and negotiations with the Houston Texans on a long-term contract are likely to come in the relatively near future. Watson knows it and the Texans know it. So does his Houston teammate J.J. Watt, who sent his quarterback a quick message upon learning about the Mahomes deal.

That’s more or less all that needs to be conveyed, isn’t it?
Mahomes is getting $450 million from the Chiefs. Watson won’t be worth quite that much, but as someone who has the potential to get the next quarterback megadeal, his value definitely went up.
