JJ Watt jumps onto 5-foot box, showcases insane vertical leap (Video)
Ever wonder why Houston Texans defensive end JJ Watt is so effective at batting down passes? The 24-year-old has the benefit of being 6-foot-5, but he also has an incredible vertical leap.
In a recent video that was posted on YouTube (via Eye on Football), Watt jumped onto a dresser-type thing that was supposedly 59.5 inches tall — or just under 5 feet. Somehow, the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year made it look easy.
Is this the first time we have seen a display of freakish athleticism of this magnitude? Not exactly, but videos of amazing vertical leaps like this usually involve defensive backs or wide receivers. Watt had to somehow get his 289-pound frame onto the box from a standstill position. I highly doubt there are many — if any — NFL defensive linemen who could duplicate the feat.
