Jonathan Martin surrenders to police, pleads not guilty

Jonathan Martin has surrendered to police after being hit with five charges related to his threatening Instagram post last month.

Martin was charged in Los Angeles County with four counts of making a criminal threat and one count of possessing a firearm. TMZ Sports says Martin surrendered to police and pleaded not guilty.

The former NFL lineman posted a photo on Instagram Feb. 22 that showed a shotgun with several bullets surrounding it. He had tagged two former Miami Dolphins teammates and two of his former high school teammates in the post, along with a threatening message about “suicide, or revenge.” He also tagged his high school — Harvard-Westlake in Los Angeles.

The post was deemed credible enough to lead Harvard-Westlake to shut down school for a day.
