Josh Gordon failed another drug test

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon has reportedly failed another drug test.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Gordon is now facing a one-year suspension from football.

Gordon is arguably the best young wide receiver in the NFL, but his career will be legitimately in jeopardy if the latest news is true. The 23-year-old has a long history of drug-related issues off the field. Most recently, he pleaded guilty to driving while impaired to avoid an automatic two-game suspension before the league’s revised drug policy went into place.

Gordon was initially suspended for the entire 2014 season after testing positive for marijuana, but he ended up being reinstated for the final five games. He was also suspended for the first two games of the 2013 season and placed in the NFL’s Stage III drug program after he tested positive for using codeine syrup as a recreational drug.

If the report we heard last month regarding how the Browns feel about Gordon is accurate, the team will almost certainly part ways with him this offseason. Assuming Gordon is suspended for all of 2015, it will be a surprise if anyone signs him.

UPDATE: Gordon reportedly tested positive for alcohol. He is subject to alcohol testing under the NFL’s drug policy as a result of his DWI arrest.
