Julius Thomas’ 2016 campaign is ending with a whimper.
The Jacksonville Jaguars announced on Saturday that they are placing the two-time Pro Bowl tight end on injured reserve, ending his season.
Thomas had been sidelined since hurting his back in a Week 11 loss to the Detroit Lions. He finishes the year with 30 catches for 281 receiving yards and four touchdowns in nine appearances.

The 2-10 Jaguars had every reason to shut Thomas down, but it’s still a disappointing development for a player who has had a difficult time replicating his old levels of production ever since he signed a five-year, $46 million deal with Jacksonville in 2015.
