Cam Newton dealing with a foot injury means that we could see some Kyle Allen action this weekend.
NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported on Wednesday that Allen is trending towards being the starting quarterback for the Carolina Panthers in their Sunday game against the Arizona Cardinals.
Newton is in a walking boot and dealing with a mid-foot sprain.

Allen, who originally began his college career at Texas A&M before transferring to Houston, went undrafted out of college. He saw action in two games last season, throwing for 228 yards and two touchdowns in Week 17.
Coincidentally, Allen’s potential start on Sunday would come against No. 1 pick Kyler Murray. The two were teammates at A&M competing for the starting quarterback job in 2015. Both ended up transferring after that season.
