Kyle Hamilton suffers ugly-looking ankle injury on ‘Thursday Night Football’
The Baltimore Ravens got a big scare on Thursday with one of their top defensive cornerstones.
Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton had to leave the team’s “Thursday Night Football” showdown against the Cincinnati Bengals in the second quarter. Hamilton was in pass coverage and tried to accelerate forward to tackle Bengals running back Chase Brown after a catch. But before he could get there, Hamilton went down in a heap, having suffered an ugly turn of his right ankle.
Here is the video.

Take a look at a closer angle of the play (which appeared to show Hamilton clipping the cleat of Bengals tight end Mike Gesicki while trying to plant his foot, thus resulting in the ankle turn).

Hamilton was able to walk off the field under his own power but headed straight for the medical tent. The Ravens soon provided an update, saying that Hamilton had suffered an ankle injury and was questionable to return to the game.
The 23-year-old Hamilton is arguably the Ravens’ single most important defender. He was a Pro Bowler as well as a First Team All-Pro last season and is extremely versatile with his ability to operate in coverage, as a run defender, and even as a pass rusher (7.0 sacks over two-and-a-half career seasons). But Hamilton already battled a leg injury earlier this year and is now providing Baltimore with more cause for concern after that ugly scene against the Bengals.
