Kyler Murray’s agent takes apparent shot at Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals still have not sorted out Kyler Murray’s contract situation, and the quarterback’s agent is sending a clear message about the matter over social media.
Erik Burkhardt, Murray’s agent, reacted after the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday made a blockbuster trade for wide receiver Davante Adams. Burkhardt noted that the Raiders made the financial commitment to Adams despite having money tied up elsewhere, including in quarterback Derek Carr.
Burkhardt then sent what appeared to be a clear message to the Cardinals, questioning the team’s desire to win.
Wait, so you’re telling me teams w (already) paid QBs can also pay:
Highest paid WR, 2 highly paid DEs, one of highest paid OTs, highly paid TE, well paid RBs… and then also still REUP QB as one of the highest paid?! 🤔
It’s a CHOICE. A choice to TRY to win. Or not. #Commitment https://t.co/xmTPURqDle— Erik Burkhardt (@ErikBurkhardt) March 18, 2022
Burkhardt has consistently put public pressure on the Cardinals to act with regard to Murray’s contract. The message seems to be that the Cardinals have to show their commitment to winning, as well as to their quarterback.
Murray had hinted at unhappiness with the Cardinals earlier in the offseason, but there have been signs of a thaw more recently. Perhaps he’s going to simply allow his agent to do the talking for him.
