NFL fans could not believe where Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson fell on the league’s annual list of Top 100 players.
The league continued its countdown on Monday by announcing Jackson as the No. 69 overall player in the NFL. He ranked No. 2 on last year’s list, representing a significant fall.
Jackson’s ranking was ripped by NFL fans, who found it absurd that the two-time MVP could fall that far for no clear reason.

The annual list is based on a player vote, so fans can point the finger in that direction if they are not happy about this. The backlash is certainly justified. Injuries did limit Jackson last season, and he threw for 2,549 yards with 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions while playing in 13 games. Other players have not been hit that hard by injury-filled seasons, though.
On the other hand, the annual list often runs into some deeply confusing choices and falls victim to recency bias. Jackson will be back near the top in 2027 if he puts together the sort of season he is capable of.
