Lamar Jackson wants his Baltimore Ravens to sign one of his former college teammates.

Cornerback Jaire Alexander is a free agent now that he has been released by the Green Bay Packers. The Ravens have shown interest in Alexander, and Jackson favors Baltimore making a run for him.

The Ravens had workouts on Tuesday, and some players spoke with reporters afterwards. Jackson made it clear to the media that he wants Baltimore to get Alexander.

“I love all of our corners but go get ’em Eric (DeCosta),” was Jackson’s message.

Lamar said he’s spoken to college teammate Jaire Alexander about coming to Baltimore. “I love all of our corners but go get em Eric (DeCosta).” Said you never know what Jaire us thinking.

Jackson and Alexander both had successful collegiate careers at Louisville, where they played together from 2015-2017. Alexander was drafted with the 18th overall pick in 2018, and Jackson was taken by the Ravens with the last pick in the first round the same year.

Ravens reporter Jeff Zrebiec says that the Ravens have reached out to Alexander. Reporter Josina Anderson had previously said that six teams inquired about Alexander after he had been released by the Packers. Baltimore was one of those teams.

Alexander, 28, has only played in seven games each of the last two regular seasons. He made the Pro Bowl in 2020 and 2022 — both years where he played in most of the regular season games. He is a good player when healthy, but staying on the field has become an issue for him.
