Lance Briggs jokes about Bears quarterbacks he wanted to punch (Video)

In the wake of the news Geno Smith would be out of action for 6-10 weeks with a broken jaw after being punched by a teammate, the sports world has been understandably buzzing. Veteran linebacker Lance Briggs appeared on NFL Network Tuesday to discuss the subject and, in a lighthearted moment, talked about teammates he wanted to punch.

It should come as no surprise to anyone that Briggs wanted to put hands on Cutler a few times. However, Briggs did also mention his respect for the Bears quarterback. Craig Krenzel, Kordell Stewart, and Jonathan Quinn were each only with the Bears for one season, but that was apparently long enough to draw the ire of the seven-time Pro Bowler. Caleb Hanie and Rex Grossman also made the unfortunate list.

While the source of Geno Smith’s incident with IK Enemkpali appeared to stem from an off-the-field issue, Briggs’ reasoning behind his frustration with Jonathan Quinn was football related. I’d imagine more than a few defensive players wanted to get their hands on Quinn for having them on the field for “90 plays a game.”

On a positive note, Brian Griese and Kyle Orton received immunity from Briggs, which proves he didn’t want to punch every Bears quarterback, just most of them.
