Lawrence Taylor: Boomer Esiason is a ‘d—head’

Lawrence-TaylorBoomer Esiason has been critical of former New York Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor on several occasions. The two were in the NFL together from 1984 to 1993, and Boomer has never been shy about bashing LT for his off-field troubles. When Taylor found out that Esiason was interviewed for an upcoming Showtime documentary on him called “LT: The Life & Times,” he was furious.

“What the hell you got Boomer Esiason on something that — a piece you do of me?” Taylor told Sid Rosenberg of 640 WMEN, via the NY Post. “We can’t stand each other, he don’t know a f–k about me. What the hell’s he doing on it?”

In all likelihood, one of the main reasons Esiason was interviewed for the film is that he works for CBS, a Showtime affiliate. Plus, I’m sure it helps the cinema value of the documentary to have a little controversy. In the film, Esiason said that Taylor received special treatment from former Giants coach Bill Parcells despite his known troubles off the field.

“First of all, Boomer’s a d—head,” Taylor added. “Hey, listen, I remember when he was there running the streets, screwing all kind of hoes. Don’t give me that holier than thou s–t. I don’t wanna hear that s–t. … He gets off on it. He’s still talking about me. I ain’t talking about him.”

The film documents Taylor’s issues with drugs and women, so he’s not necessarily saying Boomer is lying. Instead, it sounds like LT wants Esiason to get off his high horse. As the Post pointed out, Esiason also ripped Taylor when “60 Minutes” ran a special on the Hall of Fame linebacker 10 years ago.

“[Taylor] talks about how he circumvented the NFL’s drug testing policy by using other players’ urine. That is an affront,” Esiason said at the time. “The fact that he shouldn’t even been playing because he would have failed the drug test in the first place … I have a 12-year-old at home. He wants to ask me about what is crack cocaine?”

Again, these two have a history. That’s exactly why the filmmakers chose to interview Esiason for the documentary. It makes for great television.
