LeSean McCoy has been dealing with a hamstring injury since training camp, and the Pro Bowl running back indicated earlier this month that he has no intention of returning to the field until he is 100 percent healthy.
It appears things have changed.
On Friday, McCoy said he is ready to play against the undefeated Cincinnati Bengals this weekend.

“It’s a big one,” McCoy said, per Tyler Dunne of The Buffalo News. “A lot of guys are banged up. Maybe get a big win here, get one more. Go into the bye week and have some time to get healthy. Full week of no running and just treatments. So that’s the mindset. Hurt or not, we need this win. So I’m out there for my teammates.”
McCoy has practiced on a limited basis this week with rookie running back Karlos Williams still unable to clear the NFL’s concussion protocol. McCoy was initially expected to miss up to a month with a small tear in his hamstring, but the 3-2 Bills are hurting for depth in their backfield.
“I’ve been in the league enough to know when I can go and I can’t go. I feel like I’m healthy enough to go out there and perform,” he added. “This is about being comfortable. I think when you’re not comfortable, and you’re no 100 percent, or not nearly close to 100 percent, you let your team down. I feel like this is a different situation. I feel a lot better. And I’m ready to go out there and play.”
You have to wonder how effective McCoy can be if his hamstring is still bothering him. The only thing we’re confident in him running with an injured hammy is his mouth, as these comments about his former coach indicated. Assuming McCoy plays, we can probably expect his snaps to be limited.
