Le’Veon Bell ready to return to huge workload to start season
Le’Veon Bell is ready to go full Leeroy Jenkins to start the 2019 season.
Speaking with reporters on Wednesday, the New York Jets running back said that he would welcome a massive workload from the very start in Week 1.
“Don’t hold back,” said Bell, per Andy Vasquez of NJ.com. “I can carry it 50 [times], if you ask me to. I’m ready. When I said, ‘Don’t hold back,’ I mean, literally, that. I don’t want to go out here and try to sprinkle me in, things like that. I’m ready to play football. I’ve been waiting a long time for this moment.”
The three-time Pro Bowler Bell, who sat out all of last season due to a contract dispute with the Pittsburgh Steelers, did lead the league with 321 carries and 406 total touches back when he last played in 2017. He is also just entering his prime at 27 years old.
While other factors suggest it would be better to ease him back in, expect Bell to get all the touches he can handle right from the opener against Buffalo.
